  • List over produced arms in World War 2

Since I don't want to hijack Kommando's thread, I thought I should just make a new thread about this list.

Re: List over produced arms in World War 2

4397 FG 42s were produced according to tarrif.net and a Swedish site. On Wikipedia the given number is 5000, but it appears to be a rough estimate.

If you can source that, I will consider it.
Till then, I must just say that your totally wrong.

Even more Lugers was brought "back" to United States by US. Soldiers after the war then the number you said.
Remember that the Luger was produced between 1900-1942, which is the period that then number comes from.

hmm not 1900 atleast 1915 but it has to be around 20,000 to 800,00 id say 4mill sounds too much even for the germans

The Luger P08 was developed in 1900 by George Luger, and was really an improved version of a earlier pistol named Borchardt.

It had a rather slow start but it then suddenly started to become popular and the first army to adopt it, was the Swiss army. A large caliber version was tested by the US Army in 1907, but in the end, they rejected it in favor of the Colt M1911.

Then in 1908, the German Army adopted it, and due to this, it is commonly know as the Luger P08, even if it was designed in 1900. It was manufactured in very considerable numbers until 1942 when manufacture was finally stopped.

                            ~Zeke.
